What is a chemical peel?

Chemical peels can be designed to address a wide range of problems, but essentially all peels work by using acids to remove dead cells from the top layer of skin and stimulate the production of new cells, collagen and elastin. This results in a reduction in fine lines, pigmentation and blemishes, resulting in smoother, more youthful-looking skin. Peels can be carried out in increasing intensity to achieve a deeper effect on the skin, depending on the desired effect.

What are fruit acids?

Alpha hydroxy acids and beta hydroxy acids belong to a group of substances often called fruit acids because they occur naturally in many fruits and other plant foods. They are non-toxic and biodegradable. Alpha hydroxy acids (AHAs) and beta hydroxy acids (BHAs) are successfully used in cosmetics to chemically exfoliate the skin. Unlike acids used for medical purposes, AHAs and BHAs can be used in a more controlled and less dangerous manner.

What results can you expect from skin peeling?

• Revival of dull skin.
• Improve skin tone and rough texture.
• Reduction of large pores.
• Smoother and softer skin.
• Reduces the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles.
• Improvement of hyperpigmentation
• Soothes skin inflammation and reduces the appearance of acne.
• Hydrated, healthy skin

How many chemical peel sessions do I need to see results?

Each person’s skin responds differently to treatment, and the type of treatment recommended will depend on the desired result. But to achieve optimal results, we recommend taking a course of 4-6 procedures lasting 4 weeks. The longevity of chemical peel results depends on several factors, but the most important factor is the strength of the peel.

Chemical Peels

Exfoliation System – Acid Peels by Janseen Cosmetics

This new intensive exfoliation system consists of 4-8 treatments over 4 weeks.

This is a specialised skin treatment that uses fruit acids (glycolic, malic, tartaric and citric acids) often called alpha hydroxy acids (AHAs). These fruit-derived AHAs play a central role in this method.
Chemical peel course is tailored to assist in the gradual repair of skin damage while promoting natural self-renewal.

Gentle exfoliating properties effectively remove dead skin cells and stimulate collagen production, which makes the skin firmer over time.

Procedures based on fruit acids are especially effective in helping to solve problems such as:

Fine spots, age spots, fine lines and wrinkles, freckles, lack of elasticity, mild sun damage, clogged pores, blemishes, uneven and tired skin tone.

Proper post-procedure care, including sun protection and hydration, is critical to achieving optimal results while minimizing potential side effects

After treatment, it is important to remember the following precautions:

• Use SPF 50 for at least 1 week after treatment.
• Avoid exposure to direct sunlight as this will not only damage the skin, but will also promote improper healing, which may negate the benefits of the peel.
• Don’t exfoliate as soon as your skin starts to peel. Any flaking of the skin will disappear naturally when it is ready.
• Avoid using scented or retinol-based products for several days after your peel.
